1. Open Day at the European Parliament in Strasbourg and Brussels, in early May 2009. |
2. A troupe of 20 dancers from the dance school Le Carré d'Art in Strasbourg welcomed thousands of visitors... |
3. ... and made some 500 million Europeans feel like dancing... |
4. ... those Europeans observing the atmosphere inside the Institution where the MEPs they are about to elect are going to sit. |
5. Irena Tatiboit, choreographer and director of Le Carré d'Art, entitled the performance "A vous de danser"... |
6. ... an explicit reference to the French slogan "A vous de choisir" aimed at inciting European voters to go to the polls. |
7. In Brussels, in Strasbourg, on stage, and in 27 countries thanks to television, these multicolored flights told the joie de vivre in the European Union. |
8. These young artists originating from all countries dismiss all prejudices... |
9. ... their dances express the complicity between them, their solidarity, their pleasure to fuse together, |
10. their happiness to skim over the difficulties of the European construction, |
11. their elegance in choosing the harmony of magnificent sequences of movements, |
12. their certainty of having the right foot on the steps of a choreographed Europe, |
13. a Europe the light-footed ballerina traveled up and down, where flags are nothing but scenery elements |
14. where the sparkling and richly colored swirls make the obsolete images of nationalisms disappear. |
15. The choreography allowed everyone to express their difference, their talent, their desires... | 16. the friendships got intertwined in surprising and leaping "pas de deux", |
17. and when the European audience had profusely applauded, it was time for other capitals, |
18 everyone being happy to weave, thanks to their artistic expression, some part of the European network. |
19. When the end of this fascinating tour finally came, the dancers were dreaming of the four corners of Europe |
20. and they paid tribute, once again, to the loyalty of the wonderful audience of the European Parliament. |
