1. Louis XV is five years old when his great-grandfather, the King Sun, is to be dying. He already knows then that his destiny is not that of a carefree child ... |
2. He is 15 when he marries Maria, the polish princess from Wissembourg, by proxy and before ever meeting her; he is now on his way to meet her, slowly and lovingly galloping ... |
3. And he is really in love, Louis, with this pretty princess, he fell for her at the first sight of her painted portrait, as she had been chosen among 99 pretenders; |
4. Does he know that one day, he will prefer the smell of horses, of hunting with hounds, and the humours of turned down mistresses from the smart districts, to her? |
5. Mrs. Ventadour oversaw the frivolity of his childhood, responsible for raising the future king among rival families; |
6. Louis will not have the right to be just a child: He is the desperately important link, staked by so many royal deaths, of the continuation of the Crown; |
7. He is 15 years old when he marries Maria, the roleof Queen assuring the succession ... the wedding at the Cathedral of Strasbourg, the Duke of Orleans representing the groom ... who now goes before the royal procession in the forest of Fontainebleau; |
8. The film by Le Carré d'Art traces his childhood and the dancers and actors, who in a few minutes will be on stage, are the same age as these exciting royal subjects ... 5, 15 years old ... |
9. One hundred students pass through the doors of royal fortune to find themselves on stage doing a production... |
10. ... and last year having married Maria in Wissembourg, the troup married Louis in Versailles, and if Paris is worth a mass, the Rohan Palace (or Palais des Rohan) is well worth the Palace of Versailles; |
11. Wonderful experience showing how an amateur school rivals under professional conditions! |
12. ... thanks to the experience of a renowned choreographer, surrounded by a fabulous and enthusiastic crew! |
13. As Louis roams the vast suites of rooms in the castle, the pupils of the Carré d'Art roam the techniques of dance ... |
14. ... to perform in various scenes, in groups by class levels, or sometimes solo, and thus present a two hour show. |
15. From a dilettante dancing a few hours for ones pleasure, to a passionate, difficult height that could one day be your profession, one can climb to all levels at Le Carré d'Art. |
16. And that day, the pen a little shaky, Louis declares his solemn flame to Maria, and the dancers invite their friends to see them on stage. |
17. We are in a dream, under the eye of the the swirling camera, Maria and Louis will sublimate their first meeting, |
18. a pas de deux set sumptuously in the magnificent hall of the Palace des Rohan, which Strasbourg tourists go through daily; |
19. What destiny are they following, these lovers who will soon bear the fate of their people, as a burden unable to withstand on their light footsteps? |
20. What a strange succession of circumstances, for one day face to face, a king of blood and a princess of the wind, are gathered with the force of intrigue and fall madly in love ... |
21. The danse shatters the taboos and the Queen takes precedence over the King ... |
22. and on the square tiles, the art,and promise of the show, is worth what the Monarchs exchange for life. |
23. The film will end,the curtain will open, the students of Le Carré d' Art will grow. |
24. One day there will remain the memory of having expressed themselves in movement and having learned to reflect and to have found that the most important thing is to enjoy themselves and have fun! (Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace, 03/05/10) |
